DFJ Esprit loses partner Nic Brisbourne, promotes Scott Sage

Scott Sage DFJ EspritExperienced DFJ Esprit partner Nic Brisbourne is leaving the Europe-focused firm after seven years to join the venture capital arm of Forward Internet Group.

Brisbourne, who joined DFJ Esprit in 2006, has been involved in the venture capital industry since 2000 in London, Europe and Silicon Valley.

His new employer said Brisbourne would take a leadership role at Forward Investment Partners and also at Forward Labs, which supports entrepreneurs with seed capital and expertise.

Brisbourne is set to start his new role on June 24.

DFJ Esprit has also promoted Scott Sage, pictured, to partner in the wake of Brisbourne’s exit announcement, although it is not clear if he will directly replace the outgoing executive.

Sage has risen through the ranks rapidly having only joined the firm as an associate in 2010.

He has led the expansion of DFJ Esprit’s dealflow, referral network and established a series of portfolio company “teach-ins” with leading industry speakers.
