Costanoa Ventures hires ex-ICG, Highland Capital investor as partner


Neill OcchiogrossoCloud-services focused early-stage investor Costanoa Venture Capital has hired former Investor Growth Capital and Highland Capital Partners investor Neill Occhiogrosso as a partner.

At Investor Growth Occhiogrosso worked on investments in Maxymiser, HireVue, Conductor, Acquia, and Guavus.

He previously spent four years at Highland where he was involved with B2B technology investments including Gigamon, VMTurbo, 2U and Ocarina Networks.

Costanoa founder and managing partner Greg Sands said, “We’ve been really pleased with the firm’s progress to date, particularly in our ability to find and back great entrepreneurs building exciting businesses in our core sectors.

“It felt like the right time to double down and do more–to increase our capacity with a new partner who loves working with early stage entrepreneurs, will source fantastic opportunities and be a value-added partner to the portfolio.”

He added, “Neill has deep and abiding interest in analytic applications where he invested actively, especially around the digitization of marketing with companies like Conductor, Maxymiser, and Acquia.

“He will also enhance our capabilities in data-driven infrastructure, so he is poised to find our next VictorOps or 3scale as well.”

Palo Alto-based Costanoa launched in December 2012 with ten initial investments and confirmed it is had raised an early stage fund of $100m.

The firm targets cloud-based services for businesses and consumers leveraging data and analytics, and will focus on providing Series A and seed investments from $500,000 to $3m.
