Australian private equity firm Champ has appointed John Haddock as its first CEO.
Haddock will retain his current position of managing director and continue his role in deal flow generation and portfolio management, the firm said in a statement.
As CEO, he will also be responsible for the overall management of Champ’s investment programme and the day-to-day management of the firm.
Prior to joining Champ in 2002, Haddock worked in investment banking, in mergers and acquisitions and debt and equity capital markets.
The firm noted that Haddock led investments in United Malt Holdings and Accolade Wines, which are two of its most successful cross-border deals.
Champ founding partner Bill Ferris said, “John’s passion for private equity and obvious pleasure in achieving outstanding results for investors, his extensive private equity experience and deep commitment to the CHAMP philosophy, admirably suit him for this important role.”
Last year Champ and Hong Kong-based peer Headland Capital Partners upped their stakes in vessel company in Miclyn Express Offshore.
