Fidelity Growth Partners Europe managing partner Simon Clark has been appointed as chairman of the British Private Equity & Venture Capital Association (BVCA) to replace Robert Easton.
Clark said he will focus on attracting capital to the industry from global investors, participating in the European regulatory debate and forging partnerships and alliances with similar institutions.
Mark Florman, BVCA chief executive, said, “Simon has an unwavering belief in the positive contribution private equity and venture capital can make to business and society.
“He has been involved with the BVCA for many years and I am delighted he is taking on the role of chairman at a time when the industry is so well-placed to demonstrate its worth to the economy.”
Outgoing chairman Easton is managing director and co-head of Carlyle Europe Technology Partners.
The body has more than 500 members representing the overwhelming number of UK-based private equity and venture capital firms and their advisors.
He said the report’s emphasis on a growth strategy for the regions and not just London was something the organisation had long championed.
