Global buyout house the Rohatyn Group has hired Beidi Gu to lead the firms public equity investment strategies in emerging and frontier markets.
Gu joins the team following stints at Morgan Stanley, WRA Investment and Caravel Management.
She has more than 12 years experience in equity investing and specialises in targeting under researched markets and companies.
Gu, who will be based in New York, said, “I believe TRG’s institutional infrastructure, global footprint and wide knowledge base across asset classes provide an ideal environment for the Emerging and Frontier Market equity strategy. The unique perspective and insights offered by TRG’s macro investment team – led by emerging market veterans Bernard Steinberg, Vincent Low and Guido Mosca – on dynamics in currencies, interest rates and politics, will further enrich my investment process.”
The buyout firm was formed in 2002. It closed its last fund in 2016, raising $52m to focus solely on Argentina.
Earlier this month, AltAssets reported that the firm had bought up renewable resources firm GMO.
