The Wall Street Journal first reported the news, which was confirmed by Dell on Monday.

Johnson, who had been the senior vice president and head of corporate strategy at Dell, was labeled the “busiest man in tech” last year by an analyst after sealing three deals in as many days.

“Mr Johnson has been instrumental in helping to bring to life Dell’s strategic vision as a leading end-to-end IT solutions provider,” Dell said in a statement.

“He leaves a strong and sustainable organization behind; one that will continue to execute our strategy and pursue our aggressive M&A activities.

“The performance of our acquisitions is unmatched in our industry and that’s largely a testament to Mr Johnson’s leadership.”
