Blackstone boosts senior advisor James Carnegie to head Australia dealmaking

australian flagGlobal buyout giant The Blackstone Group has reportedly appointed senior advisor James Carnegie to head its Australian dealmaking.

Carnegie, who was previously a partners at Australian private equity firm Archer Capital, has been named senior managing director at Blackstone according to the Australian Financial Review.

It said he would report to Blackstone’s Hong Kong-based head of Asia Pacific private equity Michael Chae.

Carnegie has been a Blackstone senior advisor in Australia since 2012.

Blackstone Group’s Australia and New Zealand chairman Paul Costello resigned last month, just two years after joining the firm.

Costello previously spent more than 20 years working in the pensions industry including roles as CEO of the sovereign wealth funds of both Australia and New Zealand.
