AXA promotes New York chief Benoît Verbrugghe to executive board

15 Oct 2012

AXA Private Equity has shuffled its staff for the second time in a week by promoting New York office head Benoît Verbrugghe to its executive board.

Verbrugghe, who has been with AXA PE for 13 years, will remain in New York following the appointment to help continue the firm’s expansion in North America.

The firm said the new executive had played a key role alongside board members Dominique Senequier and Vincent Gombault in raising AXA PE’s profile in the secondaries market, most notably $8bn for its funds of funds.

It added he was instrumental in June’s $1.7bn portfolio of LP interests in buyout funds and companies belonging to Citigroup.

Verbrugghe said, “Our team in New York has worked hard to grow our presence in the North American market. We aim to capitalize on the numerous opportunities we see to expand our offering and reach new investors across the continent.”

Last week AXA PE named Olivier Berment as co-head of its private debt business.

Berment will work alongside fellow co-head Cécile Mayer-Lévi under the overall leadership of Gombault, the managing director for funds of funds and private debt.
