US private equity firm Angelo Gordon has made Arthur Peponis head of private equity and special situations following David Roberts’ shift to chief operating officer.
Peponis, a member of the firm’s management committee, joined Angelo Gordon in 2009 from his previous role as partner at Goldman Sachs.
The firm is undergoing transitions at the top of the management tree amid co-founder Michael Gordon choosing to give up the COO position to concentrate on his role as chief investment officer according to Dow Jones.
Roberts was previously a principal at Canadian merchant bank Gordon Investment Corporation, and before that specialised in M&A in LF Rothschild’s corporate finance department.
Angelo Gordon co-founders John Angelo and Michael Gordon previously ran the arbitrage department of LF Rothschild before setting up their own firm in 1988.
The firm currently has about $25bn under management.
