Deborah Bernstein, who served as partner at private equity firm Aquiline Capital, has died from breast cancer at the age of 41.
Bernstein, pictured, joined Aquiline in 2008 after working as a general partner at venture capital firm Pequot Ventures, where she was focused on the financial services sector.
She has also worked financial institutions group and later worked in the principal investments area at Goldman Sachs.
Aquiline said in a statement, “With great sadness we wish to inform you that our partner and beloved friend, Deborah Bernstein, has passed away after a long and courageous fight with cancer.
“She made a lasting impact on the firm including building our financial technology group and developing our talented team. We will miss Deborah and her indomitable spirit.”
New York-based Aquiline invests in financial services sectors such as property insurance, life insurance, asset management and specialty finance.
The firm recently bought Genworth Wealth Management from Genworth Financial for $412.5m.
