Alternative asset giant Apollo Global Management has quietly hired former Citigroup dealmaker Chad Leat as a consultant, Reuters has reported.
Leat stepped down as Citigroup’s vice chairman of global banking and chairman of its alternative assets group last year. At Citigroup he focused on fixed income as well as advising private equity firms, supporting Carlyle’s 2012 IPO.
He previously served as co-head of global credit markets for Citi Markets and Banking, and prior to that was global head of loans and leveraged finance.
Most recently Apollo formed a strategic partnership with Caelus Energy Alaska to invest in oil and gas properties in the region, acquiring Pioneer Natural Resources’ Alaskan oil and gas business for $300m in cash.
