Apax Partners advisor Ian Martin to become Rolls-Royce chair

Ian Davis Apax Partners advisor Ian Martin is to become chairman of engineering group Rolls-Royce Holdings today, succeeding Sir Simon Robertson at the company’s AGM.

Rolls Royce also announced that the company’s president Mark King has decided to resign from the company, to be replaced by former president – marine Tony Wood.

Martin was appointed to the board with effect from March 2013.

He was named a senior advisor to European buyout firm Apax in May 2010. He also serves as a non-executive director, on the boards of BP and Johnson & Johnson

He was previously managing partner of McKinsey’s practice in the UK and Ireland from 1996 to 2003, and was chairman and worldwide managing director of McKinsey until 2009.
