Americas Energy Fund II has secured commitments of $100m towards its $300m target, said Dow Jones, citing a person with knowledge of the matter.

The vehicle is nearly double the size of SCL’s first energy fund, which raised $160m in 2008.

The first fund was backed by Colombian and Peruvian pension funds, Chilean family offices and Banco de Desarrollo de América Latina.

SCL currently has assets under management of more than $1.7bn. Its projects have a total installed capacity of 1,550 MW with expected annual power generation of 7,950 GWH.

Last October LAVCA research director Juan Savino told AltAssets that Latin American GPs saw stronger support from local LPs including pension funds in the first half of last year.
