New York-based venture capital firm RRE Ventures has secured $280m for its sixth vehicle in a speedy fundraise.
RRE Ventures VI received commitments from LPs based in the US, Europe, Asia and the Middle East and took only six weeks to raise. In February AltAssets reported that the firm filed to raise a new fund, targeting $250m.
RRE’s fifth fund also targeted $250m, but was closed with commitments of $230m in November 2012.
The fund has already entered its investment period and currently has several core and seed investments under review.
Since its launch in 1994 the firm has raised over $1.3bn across its six funds.
RRE co-managing partner Stuart Ellman said, “For entrepreneurs seeking early-stage capital, RRE Ventures stands out as a partner.
“Our reputation for working hard for our entrepreneurs and proactively opening doors in the industries undergoing transformative change continues to give us a competitive advantage.”
