Luxembourg-based Pictet Alternative Advisors has held the $815m final close for its fourth fund of funds.
Monte Rosa IV will primarily invest in North American and European buyout funds, and also into emerging markets and other strategies.
Around 20 per cent of the capital will be used for co-investments and secondary transactions.
At the time of the close, around 20 per cent of capital had been deployed.
Pictet Alternative Advisors private equity head Maurizio Arrigo said, “This is 2.5x bigger than the predecessor fund that closed in 2015.
“This successful fundraising comes as a confirmation that private equity has now become a major asset class, playing a meaningful role in most investors’ strategic allocation.”
The firm raised a robotics-focused fund in 2015 and sought both institutional and retail investors.
