New life sciences investor Lightstone Ventures is planning to raise at least $200m for its debut fund, it is understood.
The vehicle will concentrate on early-stage therapeutics, Reuters reported.
Lightstone was formed earlier this year by the general partners and other members of Advanced Technology Ventures and Morgenthaler Ventures, which both span out their respective life sciences and health teams.
The duo said they created the new firm “to capture the upside of investing in breakthrough life science companies during a time of unique opportunity in the space.”
Morgenthaler was recently among a string of investors to take part in a $30m financing round for high blood pressure therapy company Kona Medical.
