Louisiana Teachers’ allocates $50m to venture capital mandate

Louisiana alligatorThe Teachers’ Retirement System of Louisiana has set aside $50m in a separate account with investment advisor Hamilton Lane to focus on investing in venture capital funds

“This will give us a more efficient way of pursuing opportunities in top tier venture funds,” Maurice Coleman, director of private markets at Louisiana Teachers’, told PEHub

Louisiana Teachers’ has a target allocation to venture capital of two per cent, which currently sits at 0.5 per cent. Its exposure is currently through a $100m commitment to the 2000 vintage Horsley Bridge VII fund of funds and $50m to Special Private Equity fund of funds., alongside direct investments in Louisiana Fund I, Insight Venture Partners VII and Technology Crossover Ventures VIII.

Louisiana Teachers recently confirmed a $75m commitment to CVC Capital Partners Asia Pacific IV.
