Financial services firm Lightyear Capital is reportedly preparing to launch a new fund.
Lightyear is currently in preliminary discussions with investors about its fundraising plans, said Dow Jones, citing two people familiar with the matter.
The firm discussed the idea with its LPs at its annual limited LP meeting in New York, said the sources. Its most recent fund, Lightyear Capital II, held a final close on $850m in 2007.
Back in 2011 it was reported that Lightyear was looking to raise $1.1bn for its third fund and had secured a $150m investment through UBS Securities.
Last month Lightyear promoted Michal Petrzela to managing director.
Since its launch in 2000 Lightyear has raised $2.5bn to invest in the asset management, banks, brokerage, financial technology, insurance, and specialty finance sectors.
