Insight Venture Partners has followed up one of the biggest-ever venture capital fundraises by closing a $510m co-investment fund.
The firm plans to use the fund to invest alongside Insight Venture Partners VIII, which it closed on $2.57bn last May.
Insight said the fund would continue its strategy of targeting global software, internet and data-services businesses.
Jeff Horing, Insight co-founder and managing director, said, “We see tremendous market opportunity to invest in high growth technology companies and this new fund will enable us to invest in our core expansion-stage market, as well as larger growing companies.
“We appreciate that our investors have further committed to our investment strategy through the new co-investment fund.”
Existing investors contributed the majority of the capital to the new co-investment fund. The total capital committed to Insight since it was founded in 1995 is now more than $8bn.
