India’s Nexus Venture Partners raises $270m for Fund III


Indian VC firm Nexus Venture Partners has closed its third fund on $270m.

The fund investors include endowments, foundations, and financial institutions across North America, Europe and Asia.

Nexus Venture Partners was launched in 2006 and has invested in over 40 companies since inception.

Investments include include, Gluster, Pubmatic, DimDim,, MapMyindia, Netmagic, Komli, Prana, Druva, Unmetric and Bigshoebazaar.

The firm said it will maintain its focus on early stage companies and will continue to invest in disruptive opportunities across technology, internet, media, consumer and business services sectors.

“We are very grateful to our investors for their continued commitment to the Nexus team and for endorsing our “entrepreneurs’ first” investment philosophy,” said Naren Gupta, co-founder, Nexus Venture Partners.

“All major investors in prior funds participated in Nexus III.

“India has the talent to build leading global companies. We want to play a role in creating an India-based ecosystem where passionate entrepreneurs can realise their dreams.”

Nexus Venture Partners has two earlier funds – the $100m Fund I was launched in 2007 and the $220m Fund II closed in mid-2008.

Earlier this year the firm launched a Bangalore office under the control of Sameer Verma.
