US venture capital firm Greylock Partners has launched a new $100m fund focused on online marketplaces, naming former eBay Motors founder Simon Rothman as partner to lead the strategy.
Rothman joined Greylock in 2011 as an executive-in-residence with a focus on consumer networks and platforms and has served as an adviser to marketplace companies including Lyft, Wanelo, Poshmark.
He was previously founder and global vice president of eBay Motors, a division of eBay that nationalised the used car market, that grew into a $14bn a year business. He was also responsible for eBay’s US operations.
LAst month Greylock named former Twitter growth specialist Josh Elman as partner, having just previously added former Quora, Twitter and Facebook growth specialist Andrew Johns as a growth strategist in residence.
