Ex-KKR partners-led True Wind may close maiden fund by end-2016

golden-gate-bridge-1654428_640True Wind Capital Management, launched by two ex-KKR partners, is reportedly set to close its debut fund by year-end as the pool is already over its $400m target.

The fund has also expanded its team, hiring former Vista Equity Partners associate Matt Wilson, Buyouts magazine has reported citing a source with knowledge of the matter.

Wilson stated in his LinkedIn profile that he has been a principal at True Wind since May this year.

At the beginning of September, True Wind registered an amount of just over $381m for its first fund raised from 45 LPs in a filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission.

The firm stated in the document that it will need more than a year to complete the fundraising process with the first commitment received at the end of July 2015.

True Wind which invests exclusively in the technology sector is focused on software, IT services, semiconductors, industrial technology and internet-related businesses.

The San Francisco-based firm founding partners, Adam Clammer and Jamie Greene, have been working together for over 20 years and have invested more than $10bn across a variety of sectors.

Both of them founded KKR’s Global Technology Group back in 2004.
