Private equity giant The Carlyle Group has registered $1.86bn commitments for its International Energy Partners fund.
The capital has been raised via investments from 146 LPs, according to the firm’s filing with the US securities regulator.
Carlyle has also listed $2.5m worth of sales commission which the firm says will be borne by the GP and the not the fund’s investors.
The Energy Partners vehicle was launched in August last year and has so far its investment portfolio includes oil and gas platform Varo Energy and energy company Discover Exploration based in London.
Both investments were made in December last year.
TCG Securities and Merrill Lynch are listed as placing agents for the Energy Partners vehicle.
Carlyle named former Perella Weinberg Partners’ Robert Maguire as managing director for Carlyle International Energy Partners in March this year.
