AlpInvest sets sights on energy, infrastructure investment

10 Apr 2014

Carlyle-owned fund of funds AlpInvest Partners is to launch its own energy and infrastructure division, according to PEhub

The team would invest in the sector via fund commitments, co-investments and secondaries, it said.

AlpInvest is part of Carlyle’s Global Solutions unit, with approximately $48bn of assets under management. It was established in 2011 with the acquisition of a 60 per cent stake in AlpInvest.

One of the world’s largest investors in private equity, AlpInvest manages a global private equity fund of funds programme and related co-investment and secondary activities. Its anchor investors are two large Dutch pension funds, which were the previous shareholders of the company.
