Zynga buys game developer NaturalMotion for $527m

ninjaGamemaker Zynga has bought venture capital-backed UK-based mobile game developer NaturalMotion for $527m.

Under the terms of the deal, NaturalMotion shareholders will receive $391m in cash and 39.8m shares in Zynga, the company said in a statement.

Zynga said the acquisition of NaturalMotion, whose games include CSR Racing and Clumsy Ninja, will expand its game pipeline into two new categories, racing and people simulation.

NaturalMotion’s backers included Balderton Capital and Benchmark Capital, which invested $11m in the company in june 2012.

Zynga’s previous acquisitions include the purchase of social game developer OMGPOP for a reported value of around $200m.
