US private equity house Windjammer Capital has followed the $870m final close of its fifth flagship fund by picking up packaging business Hermetic Solutions Group.
The company provides advanced hermetic packaging and components designed to ensure critical electronic systems function reliably in demanding environments, where it is essential to control for factors such as weight, space, vibration, temperature, moisture and off-gassing.
HSG’s products support new build and system upgrades of high priority defense platforms, as well as niche applications in medical device, optical networking and industrial products.
Windjammer managing director Craig Majernik said, “The breadth of HSG’s offering, its application engineering and materials science know-how, combined with its specialized manufacturing and process technologies, represent a truly differentiated value proposition, which is reflected in its long-tenured customer relationships.
“We saw in HSG the opportunity to back a strong management team, support their ongoing initiatives to drive operational excellence and capacity expansion, and underwrite an acquisition strategy to further build out HSG’s platform of leading brands and product lines.”
HSG is the first investment in Windjammer’s $870m Senior Equity Fund V.
AltAssets revealed at the end of 2017 that Windjammer had launched its fifth fundraise with a target of $800m.
The firm previously raised $726m for its Senior Equity Fund IV in 2013.
