Healthcare-focused private equity firm Welsh, Carson, Anderson & Stowe has launched physician services company US Anesthesia Partners alongside a pair of industry veterans.
The Florida-based company will aim to partner with groups of anesthesiologists looking for capital to invest in their practice infrastructure to help them grow within the market.
Healthcare experts Kris Bratberg and John Rizzo will become CEO and president of the company respectively, the firm said.
Bratberg has more than twenty years of experience working within the healthcare services industry, while Rizzo has held senior executive roles in large organizations including senior vice president of business development at MedNax.
WCAS general partner Brian Regan said, “We are thrilled to be partnering with Kris and John, who bring a proven track record of growing and managing physician services businesses.
“We look forward to supporting USAP in their efforts to build a leading physician-centric management company for anesthesia practices.”
Last month it was reported WCAS had withdrawn portfolio company TransFirst from sale in favour of a dividend recapitalisation for the US payments processing company.
Prospective buyers were said to have include private equity firms Blackstone, Carlyle and Hellman & Friedman, as well as trade buyers Vantiv, TSYS and Moneris Solutions.
The report said some of the acquirers were looking to merge the company with Advent and Bain-backed WorldPay.
