Wellington Management leads $70m round for Jessica Alba’s natural product company


cream-536828-mWellington Management Company has led a $70m financing round for Jessica Alba’s The Honest Company, which makes non-toxic products such as skin care, household cleaning items and supplements.

Lightspeed Venture Partners, Institutional Venture Partners and General Catalyst Partners also re-upped in the round, bringing the total equity raised to $122m.

The Honest Company is described as a family brand that aims to make natural, non-toxic products which are available online and at stores across the US and Canada.

The company said the funding will help the company expand its current offerings and develop products in new areas.

Actress and co-founder of the company Alba said, “We value the support of our partners and customers in helping us make a meaningful impact in the marketplace.

“We dream big at The Honest Company and continuously strive to make the world healthier and more sustainable – today and in the future.”

Venture capital firm Wellington Management took part in a massive $72.8m Series B round for gene therapy specialist Spark Therapeutics.
