Web startup ClearSky Data seals stealthy $12m VC investment


Web startup ClearSky Data has flown under the radar to secure a $12m venture capital investment from  Highland Capital Partners and General Catalyst, according to Boston.com.

The company, established by CloudSwitch founder Ellen Rubin and former EqualLogic exec Lazarus Vekiarides, currently operates out of Highland’s Boston offices.

Currently without a company website, it is not yet clear where ClearSky will focus, though Rubin and Vekiarides’ expertise spans cloud computing and business intelligence. The company is also said to be hiring staff with in the fields of “security, storage, networking and virtualization”.

As part of the deal General Catalyst partner David Orfao from General Catalyst and Highland partner Sean Dalton will join the company’s board.
