Warburg backs hospital consultant video conferencing company Specialists on Call

hospital corridorGlobal private equity investor Warburg Pincus has invested $32m in Specialists On Call, which uses video conferencing to provide speciality consultations to acute-care hospitals.

The company believes its industry is an addressable market worth $3bn.

Warburg managing director and healthcare group head Elizabeth Weatherman said, “As telemedicine becomes a more mainstream medium for care delivery, we believe SOC’s focus on addressing the shortage of specialty physicians at suburban hospitals positions the company for continued success.

“We are eager to partner with Joe and the management team to build on the company’s leadership position and accelerate its growth plans.”

Last week Warburg backed cloud-based facility management services provider Dude Solutions with a $100m investment.

Dude provides facilities management services to school districts, community colleges, universities, governments, community organizations, healthcare and other commercial industries.

Since its launch in 1999, Dude has provided its software for facilities and IT management to more than 8,000 clients.
