DNS Capital, WTT Investment and S2G Ventures have laid down cash for meat-from-plants maker Beyond Meat.
Existing investors Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, the Obvious Corporation and vegan billionaire Bill Gates re-upped in the Series D round.
Beyond Meat makes its food products from plant-based sources in a bid to improve human health, positively impact climate change, conserve natural resources and respect animal welfare.
The US company said the new financing will fund greater innovation.
Beyond Meat CEO Ethan Brown said, “Meat is actually just the combination of amino acids, fats, water, carbohydrates and trace minerals. These things are available in the plant kingdom.”
In June AltAssets reported that Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers was targeting about $1.2bn of new investment capital through a pair of vehicles for its flagship fund.
