Venture firms renew OpenDNS backing with new $35m investment


big-brother-security-camera-CCTVThe venture capital backers of cloud security business OpenDNS have returned to invest another $35m in the company.

Greylock Partners, Sequoia Capital and Sutter Hill Ventures all renewed their interest in the business, while new investors included Cisco, Mohr Davidow Ventures, Northgate Capital and Lumia Capital.

The company provides a cloud-delivered security service which aims to block advanced attacks such as malware, botnets and phishing threats regardless of port, protocol or application.

Sutter Hill managing director Stefan Dyckerhoff said, “OpenDNS is the future of enterprise security, protecting workers the way they work today.
