Vendis Capital invests in horse and rider fashion company Hypo

Hypo WholesaleConsumer-focused European buyout house Vendis Capital has sealed its fifth investment by picking up a stake in Dutch horse and rider fashion business Hypo Wholesale.

The company controls the HV Polo and Euro-star brands, and provides products to specialised equestrian retailers, internet and mail-order companies.

Michael Deturck from Vendis said, “We are very happy with our entry in Hypo Wholesale. It is one of the most dynamic players in quite a specific market.

“The team has a lot of industry experience and has succeeded to develop authentic own brands as well as to renew established more traditional brands.

“This is illustrated by the growth realised during the last years. We look forward to work together with the team and to support the continued development of the group.”

Vendis closed its debut fund on €111.5m in January 2011 – ahead of its €100m target – thanks to commitments from 24 LPs.

The firm provides buyout and growth capital to European retail and consumer businesses, in amounts between €5m and €15m.
