oil drill_lrgMid-market energy sector focused private equity firm TPH Partners has backed Denver-based upstream oil and gas company Channel Energy.

TPH said it has partnered with TPH’s management team, which includes CEO Kevin Corbett and CFO Doug Izmirian, without disclosing how much it invested in the business.

Channel will focus on buying and farming into oil and gas projects in historically prolific basins.

Managing partner of TPH Partners George McCormick said, “We are fortunate to have the opportunity to put capital to work with such an excellent management team.

“Kevin is a proven oil finder with a track record of value creation, and Doug’s history of successful entrepreneurship in the oil patch will add an important element to the team’s skill set.”

TPH Partners, which is headquartered in Houston, is the private equity arm of investment firm Tudor, Pickering, Holt & Co.

Last year the firm named Dick Lewis chairman of its TPH Partners II, fund, which targets the mid-market of the upstream, midstream, and oilfield services sectors.
