TiVo acquires venture capital-backed Digitalsmiths

tv_screen_170sqThe venture capital backers of Digitalsmiths have exited their investment in the video searches and recommendations provider to TiVo in a $135m deal.

Digitalsmiths was backed by The Aurora Funds, Chrysalis Ventures and .406 Ventures.

The company offers personalized video search, recommendations and browsing, social trending, and mood-based discovery, which can connect viewers to the most relevant movies, TV shows and live events.

It currently works with 46 blue-chip US and international service providers including seven of the top 10 pay-TV operators in the US.

One of Digitalsmiths’ venture backers, .406 Ventures, closed its latest fund on over $175m a little over a year ago.

Established in 2006, .406 Ventures focuses exclusively on early stage, enterprise IT companies, with a particular focus on companies in the IT security, healthcare IT and web infrastructure spaces.
