Venture capital firm Thrive Capital has led a $20m Series C funding round fro video platform and community for gamers Twitch.
Existing investors Alsop Louie Partners and Bessemer Venture Partners also participated in the round, as did new backers WestSummit Capital and Take-Two Interactive Software.
The funds will enable Twitch, which currently attracts more than 45 million unique visitors per month, to expand its sales division and infrastructure.
Thrive Capital partner Chris Paik said, “Twitch is a company that we see riding multiple waves both in gaming and online video.
“By providing gamers a new way to express themselves, Twitch has built a strong, passionate and fast growing community around itself.”
Last week Thrive participated in a $20m Series A round raised by New York-based startup Urban Compass, which was also backed by Advance Publications, Founders Fund, .406 Ventures and Salesforce.com founder and CEO Marc Benioff.
Earlier this year Thrive backed a $20m Series B for Palo Alto-based big data startup RelateIQ.
