canada_lrgCanadian telecommunications giant Telus’ venture arm has invested $3m in mobile health technology business PatientSafe Solutions, bringing its Series C round to $30m.

Telus Health will also be the exclusive reseller of the PatientTouch system in Canada and introduce PatientSafe to international telecom partners, the company said in a statement.

Telus Ventures vice-president Mathew George said, “Telus Ventures and PatientSafe Solutions share a common goal to make healthcare a more effective, efficient, and high-quality experience for patients and hospital systems alike.

“The PatientTouch system has already demonstrated its potential in the United States, having been embraced by leading institutions. We now look forward to bringing the technology north of the border to improve quality of care and positively impact patient outcomes.”

The Series C round was led by Merck Global Health Innovation Fund with participation from Camden Partners, TPG Biotech, and Psilos Group.

PatientSafe said it would use the funds to expand into the Asia Pacific healthcare market as well as for further promotion of its clinical mobility platform PatientTouch System in the US.
