Teakwood Capital hires ex-DLI Piper exec as managing director

texas austinPrivate equity firm Teakwood Capital has appointed ex-DLA Piper executive Kim Shrum as managing director of business development.

Shrum will be based in in Teakwood’s Austin office and focused on sourcing and developing investment opportunities, targeting profitable companies with revenues of $5m to $25m looking for growth capital or a buyout.

Prior to joining Teakwood, Shrum spent ten years at law firm DLA Piper, where she developed and maintained an extensive network of entrepreneurs, investors, service providers and executives in the technology industry.

Teakwood managing director Shawn Kelly said, “Kim has a unique background and set of skills that bring a fresh and entirely new dimension to Teakwood’s deal sourcing strategies. We are very fortunate to have her as part of our team.

“Throughout my career, I’ve been fortunate to be in positions where I can help connect great people with great opportunities. Teakwood presents an even greater opportunity for me to incorporate financing strategies as part of my discussions.”

Teakwood recently closed its third fund on $90m, beating its $75m target. The firm said that the “market leading performances” of its previous vehicles helped it close Fund III in just six months without resorting to a placement agent.
