TA Associates reaps £197m from Jupiter stake sale

5 Mar 2014

Global growth investor TA Associates has sold a 10.6 per cent stake in UK mutual fund manager Jupiter for £197.2m.

Jupiter Fund Management is one of the UK’s largest fund management groups, managing over £29bn of investments for both individual and institutional investors in unit trusts, institutional mandates, investment trusts, hedge funds, offshore funds, pensions and private client portfolios.

TA backed the management buyout of Jupiter in March 2007 and then increased its stake to 22.3m by acquiring shares through the company’s IPO.

Last year the firm partially exited its investment with a £82.7m stake sale, which reduced its ownership to 13.3 per cent.
