Liberty Global Ventures, Vintage Investment Partners also participated in the round, as did existing backers Carmel Ventures, Globespan Capital Partners and Norwest Venture Partners.

The round takes the total amount of funds raised by the company to $37m.

SundaySky said it expects further growth this year after seeing its revenues triple in 2012. Over the past year, the number of its viewers has more than tripled to 140m.

Comcast Ventures managing director Andrew Cleland said, “Comcast Ventures is a believer in disruptive digital marketing innovation, particularly as CMOs boost technology investments and seek to develop more direct, personalized relationships with customers.

“SundaySky sits at the intersection of these trends, combining rich creative experiences with big data, and we’ll support a world-class team building a clear category leader.”

Last month Comcast participated in a $26.6m Series B financing round for networking and wireless business Benu Networks.
