25 Jun 2014

WonderbraPrivate equity firm Sun European Partners has agreed to sell its stake in lingerie and underwear maker DBApparel in a trade sale to HanesBrands which values the business at €400m.

Sun Europe bought DBA from the Sara Lee Corporation in 2006, and has helped the then struggling business make a “solid recovery”, according to a press release from the firm.

DBA designs and makes garments for brands including Wonderbra, Playtex and Shock Absorber, and has a strong presence across Europe.

Sun vice president Lionel de Posson said, “We are very proud to have successfully contributed to the strategic repositioning and operational transformation of DBA, creating a robust business which is now in good financial health.

“We believe that this proposed transaction, which would bring together two complementary geographical market leaders, would represent a key milestone in the turnaround strategy that we have helped to implement at DBA in recent years.

“We look forward to identifying similar investment opportunities in France in the future.”
