Sun Capital Partners has purchased Horizon Services, a residential provider of plumbing, heating and air conditioning services.

The global private equity firm, which focuses on companies with between $50m and $1.5bn in revenue, did not disclosed how much it paid for the business.

Founded in 1987, Horizon Services specialises in heating, air conditioning, plumbing, drain cleaning, and sewer and water line replacement and repair services across Delaware, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Connecticut and Maryland.

It also claims to be a leading seller and installer of energy-efficient heating and cooling systems in the mid-Atlantic.

Sun Capital senior managing director Steven Liff said, “Adding value to services companies has been a special focus of Sun Capital over the years.

“We are eager to partner with Horizon’s management to provide the resources needed for growth, organically and through acquisitions, as well as to offer our expertise in strengthening systems and business processes and enhancing the company’s service offerings.”

In the home and business services sectors Sun Capital has previously backed Spectralink, a global provider of on-site enterprise mobile communication solutions, and Bundy Refrigeration, a manufacturer and supplier of fluid carrying cooling system components for the domestic refrigeration industry.

Two months ago, the firm purchased garage door hardware and fittings business Arrow Tru-Line.
