Spire Capital, 4Connections founder team up for fibre communications investment

fibre cable optic networkSpire Capital Partners has partnered with Gilberto Santaliz, the former owner and chief executive of 4Connections, to invest in the booming fibre communications sector.

The mid-market private equity firm expects that following an investment Santaliz will join the board of directors of the investee company.

Santaliz said he saw “tremendous opportunity in the fibrer communications sector”.

4Connections, which was founded by Santaliz, was a metro fibre provider in New Jersey that was sold to a unit of cable operator Cablevision in 2008.

Ben Meyer, principal of Spire, said “The communications infrastructure and services sectors, specifically the fiber communications infrastructure industry, are experiencing significant growth due to a number of factors including the ever increasing bandwidth consumption by consumers and businesses.

“As private investors, we are constantly looking to partner with successful entrepreneurs to evaluate, invest in and build businesses and create value.

“Gil has shown the ability to build assets and enterprise value within the fiber communications industry.”

Spire is focused on the business services, information services, media, education and communications sectors.
