Spark Capital, Bono and Al Gore back startup Jelly Industries


dollar3_170sqVenture capital firm Spark Capital has a led a Series A round for Jelly Industries, a mobile technology startup launched by Twitter co-founder Biz Stone.

The company has also been backed by Square CEO Jack Dorsey, U2 lead singer Bono, former vice president of the US Al Gore and Greylock Discovery Fund’s Reid Hoffman and Emmy winning director Greg Yaitanes.

Other investors include Afghan businesswoman Roya Mahboob and Evan Williams and Jason Goldman of Obvious Corp.

“As mobile devices have taken an increasingly central role in our lives, humanity has grown more connected than ever—herein lies massive opportunity,” Jelly said in an announcement.

“With this capital raise, Jelly has the means to hire more great talent and continue building what we think of as the natural next step for our connected society.”

The company added that it will share more information about its products when it moves beyond prototyping.
