Singapore’s Jungle Ventures backs big data startup Crayon Data

data storage_lrgSingapore-based big data startup Crayon Data has secured a SGD1.5m ($1.2m) investment in a round led by venture capital firm Jungle Ventures.

SPRING SEEDS Capital participated in the round, which brought the company’s fundraising total to SGD5.5m ($4.4m).

Crayon’s technology helps businesses connect their internal data with the unstructured data outside, including digital and social media.

By connecting multi-dimensional data, the platform provides richer and more intelligent data-led decisions to its clients, according to the company.

Craydon is headquartered in Singapore and operates development centres in Singapore and Chennai.

Jungle Ventures managing partner Anurag Srivastava said, “I believe that what Crayon Data has set out to do is cutting edge.

“Their SimplerChoicesTM play, and one that is already helping traditional enterprises like banks, retailers, telcos, hotels etc. offer more effective choices for their consumers, while changing the way they use big data. I am honoured to join the board of a company that is going to make a difference.”

Jungle, which is based in Singapore, has recently backed a $3m funding round for Fastacash, which allows people to send money and coupons using social networks.
