Sequoia Capital backs Indian mobile game business Octro with $15m

OCtroGlobal early-stage investment firm Sequoia Capital has invested $15m in Indian gaming company Octro.

The company reworks games which have existed for generations for the mobile market, converting classics such as rummy.

Most recently Octro launched its version of classic bingo-style game Tambola.

Sequoia managing director Mohit Bhatnagar said, “Indian games               like Tambola, Teen Patti and Rummy     have been a part of people’s lives for years.

“Octro has made these culturally relevant games come to life on the mobile.

“We look forward to working closely with the team and leveraging our network to help the company scale greater heights.”
