Primary Data expands Series B with $60m financing round


Primary Data, a provider of next-generation software-defined data centre technologies, has increased the size of its Series B round and closed on $60m in financing.

Investors included Mercato Partners, Accel Partners, Battery Ventures, Lightspeed Venture Partners and Pelion Venture Partners.

Founded by former Fusion-io founders David Flynn and Rick White, Primary Data is developing software to enable enterprises to manage unstructured data with improved performance and scalability.

Mercato Partners is an expansion stage private equity firm and focuses on accelerating the growth of technology, digital media and branded consumer companies.

The Salt Lake City-based firm has partnered with companies such as Fusion-io, Skullcandy, Stance, DOMO, and Control4.
