Nordic venture capital firm Inventure leads €2m funding for Finland genetics startup

eurosEarly stage investor Inventure was among firms to lay down cash in a €2m funding round for genome research startup Blueprint Genetics.

Finnish business angels and the country’s Funding Agency for Innovation also reportedly invested, bringing the total amount raised by Blueprint to around €2.96m ($3.9m), said Unquote.

The company will use the fresh capital to support its international expansion, which will kick off with the opening of an office in the US.

Blueprint Genetics has developed a new way of sequencing the genome and has also developed proprietary software for gleaning diagnostic information from it.

The company reckons its method is faster and more cost-efficient than other methods.

Blueprint has more than 60 hospitals on its books, in 10 countries.

Inventure, which has offices in Helsinki and Shanghai, took part in a €4m funding Series B funding round for user interface software company Rightware in May last year.
