Nordic Capital makes majority investment in Gina Tricot

quarlesPrivate equity firm Nordic Capital has agreed to buy a majority stake in Swedish fashion retail chain Gina Tricot.

The firm said that the founding Appelqvist family remains a significant shareholder and Göran Bille will take over as the company’s CEO, replacing Jörgen Appelqvist, who will serve as chairman.

Gina Tricot operates 180 stores across Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland and Germany and has online presence in 28 European countries.

Last year the Boras-headquartered company reported revenues of around SEK2bn ($452m).

Appelqvist said, “Together with Nordic Capital, we can focus on further developing Gina Tricot. Nordic Capital is expertly placed to provide both financial resources and industrial experience to support the growth and a new development for Gina Tricot. Our vision is to be the prime fashion retailer in all our markets.”
