Nordic Capital backs animal hospitals operator AniCura

vetPrivate equity firm Nordic Capital has backed animal hospitals and veterinary clinics operator AniCura.

The firm said that all of the company’s current owners including its employees, the Foundation Djursjukhus i Stor-Stockholm and the Swedish investment firm Fidelio Capital will stay on as “significant co-owners.”

Nordic plans to establish a new veterinary specialist neurological centre at AniCura Albano Animal Hospital in Danderyd, Sweden.

Director of NC Advisory AB, which advises the Nordic Capital funds, Tommi Unkuri said, “AniCura is a very interesting company, with an important task to improve and professionalise veterinary medical care.

“With extensive international experience in healthcare, Nordic Capital will be able to strengthen AniCura in its further development.”

Nordic’s other recent deals include a majority investment in Swedish fashion retail chain Gina Tricot and the acquisition of card payment processing business Euroline.
